British Health Minister Sajid Javid announced that the vaccination requirement for healthcare workers will be lifted. Javid cited the replacement of the Delta variant by Omicron as the reason for this decision.
British Health Minister Sajid Javid announced that they will remove the requirement for healthcare workers to have the Covid-19 vaccine in order to continue their duties.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Javid said he believed it was "no longer proportionate" to require vaccination as a working condition.
Noting that the Delta variant, which was dominant at the time the application was announced, is now replaced by the less severe Omicron, Javid stated that it would be right to review the policy.
Announcing that the government will cancel the relevant regulation, the Minister of Health said, "I have always been clear that our rules should remain proportionate and balanced, and of course, if we see another dramatic change in the virus, we will reconsider this policy."
It was stated that if the application came into force in April, it would cause a major crisis in the number of health personnel.
