After Microsoft, EA, Volkswagen, Apple and many companies, Samsung also made its decision about Russia invading Ukraine.
Many countries of the world, especially the USA and the European Union, are reacting to Russia's military operation, which was initially limited to the Donbass region of Ukraine, but turned into an invasion with the spread to the capital Kyiv and other cities. Aside from economic sanctions, Russia is also getting hits one after another from the world of technology.
Recently, Apple stopped the shipment of all its products to Russia. While Microsoft, which develops products and services used by almost everyone, including Xbox, Office, Windows, makes a similar decision; We have witnessed that automobile manufacturers also impose an embargo on Russia. Among these companies, Samsung also joined.
Samsung stops shipping smartphones to Russia
According to Reuters, Samsung has stopped the shipment of all its products, including smartphones and chips, to Russia. Of course, since Samsung has a wide range of products from microwave ovens to smart watches and tablets, the decision in question will not only affect phone sales.
The stoppage of shipping means that once Samsung's devices run out in Russia (unless shipping resumes), stocks will no longer be replenished and, naturally, Russian customers won't be able to purchase them.
In its statement on the subject, the company said:
Shipments to Russia have been suspended due to current geopolitical developments. Our hearts are with those affected, and our priority is to ensure the safety of all our employees and their families. We plan to actively support relief activities in the region. To this end, we will donate $6 million, of which $1 million will be consumer electronics products. There are also voluntary donations from our employees.
