Google has announced that the Chrome browser is faster than any of its competitors on the Mac. So how was this conclusion reached?
There has been a fierce competition for years between Google Chrome, which has the title of the most used browser in the world with a market share of more than 50 percent, and the Safari browser, which is available on Apple's macOS, iOS and iPadOS devices.
While the Google Chrome browser can be used on all known operating systems, including Windows, Chromebook and Mac, Safari can only be used on Macs, as it is exclusive to the Apple ecosystem. The technology giant, which recently released the M99 version of Chrome, made a very ambitious statement.
Google: Chrome is now faster than any browser
"We're excited to celebrate that we've significantly increased the speed of Chrome on all major platforms with our M99 release," said Google, adding that it's testing the Chrome M99 version with Apple's Speedometer software, which measures a browser's performance. The company reported that Chrome scored 300 points, surpassing all browsers, including Safari.
Saying that he made his tests on a 14-inch MacBook Pro with 64GB of RAM, equipped with a 10-core Apple M1 Max chip, Google stated that the first version of Chrome compatible with M1-based Macs has been 43 percent faster since the day it was released.
Emphasizing that the Chrome browser currently runs 7 percent faster than existing versions of Safari, and its graphics performance is 15 percent better than Safari, Google added:
“There are many ways to measure the speed of a browser, and we realize that one of them is benchmarking. At the end of the day, a fact does not change; Chrome is really faster and more efficient in everyday use. We will continue to invest in innovative performance improvements that push the boundaries.”
